7 Things

I seem to only have time for short posts lately, so here is a short list of things God’s been teaching me lately, and that I really, really needed to remember.

1. Stop stressing about the little things- even the big things. Jesus loves you. He finds you beautiful, and He loves to laugh to with you. The rest will work itself out.

2. Be careful when you want something- or someone- too much. It may mean you’re starting to place your identity and search for approval on that instead of on God.

3. There will always be two opposite extremes of people trying to dictate how you should be in order to fit into your mold. Don’t listen to either of them. You can like things that contradict each other, be artistic and serious one moment, and silly and carefree the next. There is not a role you are supposed to take on other than who you want to be.

4. When you think about the future, remember that trusting Him with it is the safest bet. He already knows how it’s going to go down anyway. And He made your heart- who better to lead it to the place where it belongs, to the place where it will thrive?

5. Any thought that tries to tell you that you are unoriginal, not creative, or boring is dumb. It’s that simple.

6. It’s not good to be alone, but it’s not good to betray who you are for the sake of intimacy either. Maybe feeling misunderstood and disconnected will follow you around for a while longer, but it’s okay. It won’t last forever. For the meantime as long as you know your depth, your feelings, your plans- that is enough. You don’t have to prove a thing to anyone.

7. Those moments where you stop worrying about the things of daily life and look up at the trees or clouds or birds and smile? Yeah, God loves that. You bring Him praise just with your wonder. Don’t be afraid to just be His child. He loves it.
