I mentioned in my last post how I've been trying to detox my closet and adopt a more minimalistic approach to clothes. What that really means is that I want to own things I truly love and make me feel like myself, while also being able to resist the ever-so-present urge to buy something new every time I'm near a mall.
The reality is that we live in a society of more- more things, more plans, more meetings. We are in constant pursuit of adding things to our lives, whether they be actual material posessions or events to our schedule.
But the past year- which was my first year working and going to school at the same time- taught me that that's not really the ideal way I want to spend my life. Call it a symptom of my INFP/introvert personality, but I would much rather spend my life quietly around nature, enjoying fellowship, and doing truly meaningful work, than be part of the fast-paced life that society tries so hard to sell us. If busy schedules and multitasking and tons of different projects are your thing, please don't let my opinion make you feel bad about it. It's just that for me personally, I know I won't last long living a life like that. I need tranquility and peace and purpose. And that means I'm going to have to implement some drastic changes to make sure I build a life that reflects that.
My closet is a small thing to start off with, but that's why I think it's the perfect first step. This is a step-by-step process, and I'm not even exactly sure what the next steps will be. But I do know that now is the perfect time to choose the kind of lifestyle I want to live and take practical steps to get there.
So with that in mind I wanted to share the best resource I've found so far on this journey to minimalism. It's not a rule book, and you certainly don't have to adopt every suggestion into your lifestyle if you like the idea minimalism, but it's been a great source of inspiration for me, and I hope that it will be for you too.
Into-mind is an awesome website that will teach you practically everything you need to know about minimalism. I'll share more on this topic later, but for now I just wanted to leave you guys with my favorite articles I've found on this site so far. It's been so refreshing to consider simplifying my life like this! I hope that it inspires you too.
