What to do on Valentine's Day (for the single folks)

This post is in no way intended to discriminate against those who are coupled up. I just figured the blog-world is inundated with date ideas for Valentine’s day, but maybe not so much for us singles. So here are some of my favorite ideas for single people to enjoy this day without feeling pressure or loneliness or any of the other silly things that Valentine's day can sometimes make us feel.

Have a fun night with your other single friends. Since when was love reserved to only couples anyway? Show your friends how much you love them by going out to dinner together, or (if you'd rather avoid all sights of couples ;) plan a chick flick night at someone’s house. Make sure to bake treats (or buy one of these adorable Emoji cupcakes!), play silly games, and spend the night pretending Ryan Gosling is your irl boyfriend. Cause let's be honest, we've all done it.

Try something you’ve always wanted to try. Bonus points if you can tackle it from the comfort of your own home. Bake that three layer chocolate cake you’ve been dreaming about for months or tackle that Pinterest craft you pinned last week. There’s no time to be depressed or wallowing in comparison when you’re keeping yourself busy. Playing a killer soundtrack while you work is a must for this as well!

Curl up with a great book. If you really just want to escape all the Valentine’s day madness, curl up with a great book (or books, if you’re bold enough to hit a whole series ;) and read the afternoon away. Barnes & Noble currently has some of their best-selling hardcovers for 30% off, so you've really got no excuse.

Write “love” letters. Sometimes the pressure of being single can make us forget all the good relationships you do have in our lives. So take some time on Valentine’s day to think about the people you love and thank them for being in your life. Feel free to get creative and do some DIYs to show them how much they mean to you. Pinterest has a lot of good ones here.

Well that's it for some of my ideas. Do you have anything special planned if you're single? I'm signing off on this post by reminding you that you are loved whether or not you’ve got a significant other to share this Valentine’s Day with. And if you still don’t believe me, check out a couple articles on this topic that I’ve loved lately.
