What my April is looking like (so far).

Reading...

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, whom I Just happen to consider the queen of YA fiction. I think one of the things I most admire about Dessen is that she tends to stick to the same theme in her books - a girl with a complicated family history who encounters a lifestyle change and of course, meets a mysterious new boy. Yet, every single one of Dessen's books is unique and tells the story in a convincing and heartfelt manner. Plus, she's just a great writer. I'm about halfway through her recent book, and as always when I read her work, I'm inspired as an aspiring YA author.

Watching...

I recently joined the world of Netflix-binging. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I'm not so sure. It's such a time waster! But oh, well. I caught up on Gilmore Girls first (of course) but then veered off into Gossip Girl territory. Yes, Gossip Girl. Maybe not the most critically acclaimed show in TV history, but watching it is strangely nostalgic, since I used to watch it when I was in high school. Sure, the storylines are crazy sometimes, but in a weird way it also inspires me as a writer, since I can't help but study character development and plot lines in any show I watch - whether or not they're done well. ;)

Listening to...

The new single by Oh Honey. It's catchy and sweet, and I've been playing it a lot recently, especially when I go running. Okay, the one time I went running. But I now have a good workout song, so I'm practically out of excuses not to workout more often.

Working on...

An official blog posting schedule. For real this time. I've been pretty consistent about posting on the same days each week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in case you were wondering), but I also want to post on the same topic each week. I'd like to start with a devotional post on Monday (since what better way to start the week, right?), then share a fun and helpful list on Wednesday. Friday will be a little more open to whatever I'd like to write about, but more than likely it will be some sort of update about something personal. I think sticking to this schedule will help my blog grow a bit more evenly, so I'm excited to start.

Loving...

Wandering around Barnes & Noble. Nothing new, of course, but I think I especially enjoy it this month, since my mind is on writing thanks to Camp Nanowrimo. I especially love sneaking to the fantasy YA section and admiring book covers. They always help me imagine what my book cover will someday look like. I think it's important to do this kind of thing whatever your dream is. Subscribe to magazines or read biographies about the field you want to be successful in. Keeping that inspiration near you keeps you accountable to work toward that dream.

What have you been up to this month?
