Liebster Award & How You Can Help Flood Victims

My blogging week is starting off very late, but this time my excuse is pretty valid. I live in Houston, and if you’ve seen the news recently, you know we were hit with a huge flood over the past few days. It’s been so crazy and terrible for so many people. I’m so blessed to not have had any flooding in my area, but many people were forced out of their homes and lost everything because of the high waters. (If you’d like to donate to the relief efforts, here’s a list of ways to do so.)

The storm meant that I was stranded at home for the first part of the week, and because I have no wifi right now, there was no way to get my usual blogging done. But today I’m kicking things off again with a special post - the Liebster Award! I was nominated for the award by Chiara, who runs a lovely blog at Thimble & Thorn. Part of accepting the award is answering the following questions, which I honestly had a lot of fun thinking about.

Pick a city you’d love to live in.

On my list of cities I’d love to live in are New York, Washington D.C., and Seattle. If I could only pick one though, it would have to be London. Some of my favorite books come from the British romantic area, and I've always loved the idea of seeing the history of a city like London while also exploring the famous moors around it.

What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?

Write, definitely. Or Netflix, but that doesn't sound quite as productive ;).

Weirdest thing you’ve seen at a festival or party?

I honestly have no idea. I guess I just don't get out to festivals or parties enough! The weirdest would probably be a man on stilts, so yeah, not that crazy.

Favourite book that you’ve read?

Without a doubt, Jane Eyre. The language, story and lessons of this novel never grow old for me. I even made an mood board for it a few months ago, and it became one of my favorite blog posts. You can check it out here: Jane Eyre Inspiration Board

Burgers or Pizza?

Tough one, but I'm going to have to go with pizza. I'm not sure why a piece of flat bread with tomato sauce and cheese on top of it tastes so dang good, but it does.

Are you more of a coffee or tea kinda person?

Well to start with, I tend to avoid caffeine as much as possible because it gives me anxiety. But while I appreciate decaf coffee over hot tea most days, sweet tea wins over both. What can I say? It's the Texan in me.

Would you rather spend a day chilling at the beach or shopping in the city?

I'm not a huge beach person, but definitely the beach. Unless I was in a new city where I could explore, then the shopping would win out.

Favourite TV show?

I guess Once Upon a Time for now, but I'm still on the lookout for a show that I can claim as my favorite ever.

What is one of your secret obsessions?

Victoria’s Secret Scents. I used to hear people rave about them all the time and thought they were exaggerating until I bought one for myself. I have two almost full bottles of two different scents because sometimes they’re on sale and I can’t help myself.

Tell me a quote that you just can’t get out of your head?

“I think this is how we’re supposed to be in the world - present and in awe.” - Anne Lamott

Now it’s my turn to nominate some lovely bloggers for this award. I’m nominating Pleats and Keats, Girl Boss and The Caffeinated Writer. Here are your ten questions:

Why did you start blogging?

What’s your favorite part about blogging?

What actor/actress should play you in a movie based on your life?

What is your favorite month of the year?

Are you a dog person or cat person? What’s the last movie you saw, and what did you think of it?

What is your go-to way to relax after a stressful day?

Who is your favorite fictional character?

Tell me one thing you’re afraid of.

If you had to trade lives with a celebrity for a day, who would you choose?
