July Favorites

First, let me just start by saying that this Houston heat is no joke. Spending the month of July in Texas puts a serious test on your ability to withstand extreme, hot temperatures. And I’m not sure I did a great job. Maybe if it were just hot and not humid it would be tolerable. But being an hour away from the Gulf means we are pretty much living in a sauna… constantly. Yeah, not fun.

But oh well. It is August now (yay!), which means we're one month closer to fall. In the meantime, onto the point of this post…

Loving…

The adorable Pocahontas Pocket Pop! keychain pictured above. I might be three months away from turning 24, but I’m unashamedly a fan of Disney princess movies. And my favorite has always been Pocahontas. I take her story as completely fictitious of course, since the real Pocahontas was completely different. But I do admire Disney's Pocahontas for a lot of things, like her desire to tread her own path, find adventure, and stand up for what was right. So finding this cute little Pocket Pop! version of her was the best thing I could’ve added to my keys.

Reading…

Last week I stopped by Half Price Books because I hadn’t bought a single book this month and I was having withdrawals. That’s not to say I don’t have plenty of things to read at home… but there’s nothing like picking out a fresh new book is there? Anyway, because Half Price Books is so wonderfully amazing (and cheap), I actually walked out with 5 new books! It’s okay though, because they cost me less than $17 total. Sugar & Cloth on Pinterest. Who hasn’t heard of Sugar & Cloth, aka the queen of lifestyle blogging? To be honest, I’ve never really followed Ashley's blog before. But I did start following her on Pinterest recently. As expected, she's one of the best pinners out there. I think my favorite pins of hers are DIY or food related. I don’t know how she does it, but she is a blogging queen. Check out Sugar & Cloth on Pinterest if you haven’t already.

Eating…

All the ice cream! Okay, not really. I’ve been eating less ice cream than I want to, but probably more than I should. It’s summer though, and one of the few highlights I find to this ridiculously hot weather is the fact that it’s perfect for eating ice cream. Lots of it. My current favorite flavor is from none other than the Chocolate Bar. I didn’t even realize they had ice cream until I stopped by last week! Their brownie mix flavor is heavenly you guys. It is a total chocolate overload though, so if you’re not a huge chocolate lover, you might want to opt for something else.

Looking forward to…

New York! In about two weeks I will be returning to the big apple, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s It’s been over two years since I first visited NYC, and this time I’m going with a friend so we will get to explore as we please. We plan to hit up all the major stuff like SoHo, Times Square, Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Park… and so many more. Honestly, I’m most looking forward to walking around Central Park. The whole trip is going to be a blast though, and I can’t wait to share updates in the near future!
