Disney World Recap: Epcot

Last week, I got the chance to visit the happiest place on earth. One of the most helpful things when it came to planning my trip was reading people's posts from their experience at WDW, so I wanted to make some of my own for each park that we went to. And of course so i always have the memories to look back on. :)

I will mention FastPass a lot in these posts, which was very confusing to me when I was reading people's posts a few months ago and had no idea what it was lol. So if you don't know, FastPass is basically a free ride reservation system. The way it works is you get three choices per park, and if you're staying at a WDW resort, you can choose them 60 days in advance. We didn't stay on-site, so we had to wait to do it 30 days in advance. I actually ended up getting all the FastPasses that I wanted. But that may have been because I literally woke myself up at 6:45am 30 days before each park, so that I could book our 3 FastPasses at exactly 7am, when each particular day's reservations opened. If I hadn't done this, I'm almost positive I wouldn't have gotten some of the FastPasses I did - especially Flight of Passage, which is the hardest FastPass to get.

FastPass made our trip so, so much smoother. The longest line I ever waited in was 50 minutes, and it was for a meet and greet. FastPasses are very worth it. The best way to approach them, I think, is to read a bunch of different articles with FastPass strategies for each park. My Disney Pinterest board has all those articles here.

Also, it's important to note that once you use up your 3 reservations each day, you can book more FastPasses one at a time using the My Disney Experience app. The wifi at the parks was great, so it helped us out to do this. And now to the first recap...

We started our week at WDW with Epcot.

We arrived a little late to this park, so after getting through security, we headed straight for the World Showcase (which opens 2 hours after the park, at 11am instead of 9). Our FastPass for Frozen Ever After was right at 11:05, so that was our first activity of the day. I didn't expect to love this ride as much as I did, I guess because it's Frozen, and I expected a "kid ride." But I ended up loving it. The animatronics, the music, and everything were so well done. Definitely worth getting the FastPass for.

After Frozen, we explored the World Showcase a bit. My favorite countries were probably Morocco, France and Japan.

The pretty views of the Morocco pavilion. Also where we met Princess Jasmine.

Probably one of my favorite teas I've ever had, from the China pavilion. I was super thirsty from all the walking at this point though, so maybe that clouded my judgement...

Les Halles Boulangerie/Patisserie in the France pavilion is a must-stop - especially when sprinkled with a little bit of pixie dust (made my own magic shot for this using Photoshop ;)

Germany is the place to meet Snow White. I think Epcot is actually the best park to meet princesses. The lines can get a little long, but it doesn't compare to MK's lines. I also like that most of them meet out in the open in the fresh air. If you look at their meet-up schedules beforehand, you can plan out how to be one of the first people in line.

After spending a few hours in the World Showcase, we headed to our FastPass for Spaceship Earth. Then it was back to the WS for awhile before heading back to the front of the park for shopping and The Seas with Nemo. We also rode Soarin' later in the day.

Overall, I'd say my favorite Epcot experiences were Frozen Ever After, the bakery in France, the shops in Japan, Spaceship Earth, and meeting Jasmine in Morocco and Belle in France. What surprised me most about Epcot? How much walking it involved! I walked more in Epcot than in any of the other parks, because I really wanted to see everything in the World Showcase. A final tip: one of the best spots to watch the Illuminations show at the end of the night is the bridge between France and the UK. Just make sure to get there a little early to save a spot.
